Good news: You don’t have to be a modern Ogilvy to write emails that get your readers to whip out their AmEx credit cards faster than what it takes to make your bed in the morning.
But you must test different techniques to see which speaks to your audience.
PAS stands for Problem, Agitation, and Solution.
This framework is notorious among copywriters and my go-to for most of my sales emails.
I love it because it meets my readers exactly where they’re at while guiding them through a transformational journey, from their problem to my solution.
You want to start with the problem they’re facing.
What are they trying to achieve but continue to fail at?
What keeps them up at night?
Then you want to agitate that problem.
Get so detailed about how that problem is interrupting their daily flow that they have no choice but to say, “dang. This person really knows where I’m coming from.”
Lastly, introduce your solution.
Make them vividly visualize themselves weeks and months after using your solution.
How are their mornings?
What are they doing with the time you saved them?
Although you can’t attach a video directly to your email, you can add a teaser.
The teaser would be a screenshot of the video with a play button and the video link attached to the photo.
Your video will be a talking head of yourself in which you will introduce their problem, agitate it, and emphasize how your solution will solve it.
Sounds familiar? 🙂
Don’t chase the sale; approach the solution.
Like a friend.
Be the friend who came up with the answer to their prayers and is now sharing the result.
Be your own advocate and show them how your life is better after using your product.
Be human.
You want to automate your business as much as possible. You want your emails to do most of the backend heavy lifting. After all, you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t care about the performance of your emails.
So, to turn your emails into your automated selling powerhouse, I recommend ActiveCampaign. My only regret is not switching to them sooner.
I was building a lot of mini email funnels with my previous email provider and became frustrated when I couldn’t create behavioral splits.
Simple if/then splits.
I also couldn’t tag my subscribers, which is KEY to sending them relevant resources based on what they need the most.
I could only create beautiful emails and send them to my offers, which is pretty basic. And basic does not build 6-7 figure businesses.
If you’ve ever gotten frustrated at your current email service provider and wished it could do more for you, you’re not alone. That was me, too.
If you’ve ever wished you could send your audience automated emails based on what pages on your site they visit, ActiveCampaign can do that.
Click here to experience what you can do with ActiveCampaign (spoiler: quite a lot!) and get your free trial. Even if your knowledge of email marketing is basic, they’ll be there for you every step of the way and provide you with the resources you need.
